Learn to incorporate unique art into your wardrobe at at the upcoming AAA wool felting workshop led by AAA artist Katrina Mullins. Felting is a decorative, fine and functional fiber art that uses needle punching to add designs onto fabric. It is as relevant today as it was 1,000 years ago.
Sign up for this workshop and express your own style using colorful wool fiber to felt an original design or to trace and felt an arty template from those provided at the workshop.
Participants will start felting on a provided 6-inch square of wool to get a feel for the technique. This square can stand alone or be incorporated into a larger design. Bring any 100 percent woolen item, such as a sweater or scarf, to felt on directly. All other materials, including wool fiber, stencils, and felting tools, will be provided.
Meet Your Instructor:
Katrina Mullins began flirting with the fiber arts as a child docent at Londontowne Public House and entered a lifetime affair after going to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival at age 11. She's an accomplished spinner and weaver, a hit-or-miss knitter, and has a fascination with crochet. Felting was a latecomer to the mix, first learned as a means to rescue a favorite sweater that met with an unfortunate accident, but is now a much used and favorite form of functional art.
